Love split mistress in 150ft plunge

A YOUNG woman plunged 150ft to her death from a luxury apartment block after her affair with a married businessman ended.
The woman - in her mid twenties - was the mistress of a wealthy Greater Manchester property developer, according to police who are investigating the tragedy.
She fell from one of the three 17-storey NV Buildings at Salford Quays on Saturday evening.
Paramedics tried to resuscitate her but she died at the scene from multiple injuries.
It is understood the man - in his mid thirties - had contacted police earlier and asked officers to meet him at the apartment.
He intended to collect belongings and feared there could be trouble as the bitterly upset woman was on the premises.
But before the police arrived he went in to the apartment and at about 9.30pm the woman fell from the 12th floor.
The businessman was later interviewed by police .
One police source said: "Witnesses have said there was no shouting or ranting - just a single scream. It is being looked at as either suicide or a horrible accident."
Residents at the waterfront block, where penthouse apartments sell for up to £800,000, spoke of their shock.
One woman said: "I don't know the full details of what has happened but it sounds like a terrible tragedy.
"I've only seen her here once or twice and she seems friendly enough. I don't know anything about her and I don't think she's from Manchester.
"I didn't see or hear anything until I looked out and saw the police.
"My heart goes out to her family."
A 35-year-old man said: "I looked out and saw people standing around something on the floor and I instantly assumed someone had fallen or jumped from the flats.
Rumours
"There's a few rumours going around but no one knows for sure what has happened."
Another resident said: "We were out for the evening and when we came back, the police had cordoned off part of the car park. There were a couple of police vans at the front of the building.
"The police said a young woman had fallen from the 12th floor."
The woman, who did not wish to be named, added: "We moved in two years ago and I haven't heard of anything like this before.
"It's usually very quiet and this building has security on 24 hours a day."
Yesterday a police officer guarded the door to the flats while other officers carried out the investigation inside.
In a search for witnesses officers carried out door to door inquiries in the block and that nearby apartments overlooking the Manchester Ship Canal.
The NV buildings - meant to look like sails - were among the first luxury apartments to be built at the former docklands.
Each has a commissioner at the entrance and security is tight.
The three curved glazed towers comprise 246 one and two bedroom apartments and the Countryside Properties development cost £35m.
In 2004 it won four architecture and interior design awards, including Manchester Evening News 'Best Apartment Scheme'.
A one bedroom apartment costs about £165,000 and a two bedroom one £300,000.
They stand next to Ontario Basin across the water from the Lowry arts centre and a short walk from Old Trafford football ground.
